Enjoy a private experience at the Palais Garnier during your visit to Paris. This opera house, famed for its opulence and splendour, was built by Charles Garnier from 1861 to 1875. It was the primary home of the Paris Opera until the late ‘80s although now it is mainly used for its ballet. The setting for Gaston Leroux’s 1910 novel, The Phantom of the Opera, it is arguably one of the most famous opera houses in the world and well worth a private visit.
After hours at the Opera House
Discover the opulent style and decor of the Palais Garnier! Explore the ‘Rotonde des Abonnes’. Previously used to greet the audience, discover the distinctive designs of architect Charles Garnier used in this space.
See the beautiful décor and magnificence of the foyers. The sheer array of materials used will enthral and delight. Be welcomed by the Prophetess Pythia before ascending the majestic main staircase leading to the auditorium, lounges and foyers. The many pieces of artwork and sculptures housed in the Palais Garnier make it not only a grand theatre, but a museum at the same time.
