This workshop features a four-hour perfume-making session designed for beginners, which is suitable for both men and women. The experience highlights a hands-on blending process where participants create, finish, name, and take home their own signature fragrance. The atmosphere connects a brief history and science of scent formulation with an audiovisual presentation about the plants and landscape of the Burren to put the Perfumery in context.
The session begins with an introductory audiovisual presentation about the plants and landscape of the Burren, a brief history of perfume, an introduction to the science of the sense of smell, and an overview of how perfumes and colognes are formulated. Next, the experience moves into a beginner’s guide to training the nose, where participants explore different oils and learn to classify natural aromatic ingredients into fragrance families. Once a preferred fragrance family is identified, participants enter a practical session to formulate and blend their own fragrance. The day concludes with time to sample perfumes, creams, and lotions handmade on site, along with a 10% discount on shop purchases made on the day of the visit and a take-home goodie bag.
